Eligibility criteria for a candidate to apply for CDSE Exam:
You should fulfill the following requirements to join IAF through CDSE-
Educational Qualification –
(a) You can apply if you are a Graduate in Three Years Course in any discipline from a recognized University. You should pass 10+2 level with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
Or,
(b)You can apply if you are an BE or B Tech (Four Year Course).
(c) You are eligible to apply if you are a Final Year/semester student. You should produce Degree certificate issued by the University as per the date stipulated in the advertisement.
No Percentage Bar is there for CDSE entry.
Gender- Only male candidate can apply for UPSC CDSE to become a pilot in Indian Air Force.
Age: Your age must be between 19 years to 23 years at the time of commencement of course.

Selection Procedure and syllabus for IAF Pilot through CDSE after Graduation:
The selection procedure is a 2 stage process.
After scrutiny of the application forms of the applicants, there will be three stages of exam for the Flying Branch of the IAF (Indian Air Force) through the CDSE –
CDS Written Exam for IAF selection:
With 3 different papers of 100 marks each, the written exam will comprise of the following subjects: English, General Knowledge and Math. The duration of all three papers will be 2 hours each. These papers will be of objective type questions in the multiple choice format.

SSB Interview:
After successful completion of the written examination of the CDSE, you will have to appear for an interview. The interview will be conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB). As mentioned above, the SSB interview will be of 2 stages.
In the Stage 1 of the SSB Interview, the interview includes an Officer Intelligence Test and a Picture perception Test.
The qualified Candidates in the Stage 1 of the SSB interview get permission to appear for the Stage 2 of the interview which is comprise of psychological tests, group tasks and a personal interview.

The candidates who qualify in all the above tests will have to appear for another test called Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT). This PABT Test includes written and machine tests to test your ability to read instruments, to test your control over your movements and your mental strength. You can only appear for this once in your lifetime.
Training at Air Force Academy:
If you qualify in the PABT as well, then you will be admitted to the Air Force Academy for training. This is the final stage for a candidate to achieve the goal. Because, after completion of your training from the AFA, you will be posted as a commissioned pilot of the Indian Air Force if you are found medically fit.
