Eligibility Conditions for AFCAT Flying Branch : Age, Educatinal Qualifications, Height, Weight, Vision etc.

 

AFCAT Notification
A notification is published by Indian Air Force to filling up some post in the Flying Branch as Commissioned Officer. This recruitment process will go through Air Force Common Admission Test.

Eligibility Criteria for Flying Branch - 202/17F/SSC/M & W

You should fulfill the following eligibility conditions to get selected for AFCAT Flying Branch.



Age limit for AFCAT Flying Branch :

Your age should be between 20 to 24 years as on 01 Jul 2017 i.e.you should born between 02 Jul 1993 to 01 Jul 1997.


Upper age limit for Candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 years i.e. Born between 02 July 1991 to 01 July 1997.



Educational Qualifications:

As educational qualifications for AFCAT flying branch you should be Graduates in Minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognised University. You should have attained minimum 60% marks or equivalent and have passed Maths and Physics at 10+2 level.


 or BE / B Tech degree in Four year course or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institute of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised University with minimum 60% marks or equivalent.

Height and Weight: Minimum height for Flying Branch: 

As AFCAT says, you should have 162.5 cms with correlated weight, Leg Length : Min - 99 cms. Max - 120 cms. Thigh Length : Max - 64 cms. Sitting Height : Min - 81.5 cms. Max - 96 cms.




Vision  Required for AFCAT Flying Branch :

(a) Minimum Visual Acuity 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other, correctable to 6/6 only for hypermetropia.


(b) Manifest Myopia - Nil.


(c) LASIK Surgery for correction of vision is admissible in Transport and Helicopter streams of Short Service Commission in the Flying Branch of Indian Air Force.



But, you should fulfil the following conditions  at the time of Air Force medical examination -

(i) LASIK Surgery should not have been carried out before the age of 20 years.


(ii) Individuals with high refractive errors (>6D) prior to LASIK are to be excluded. Candidates must not suffer from colour or night blindness.


(iii) At least twelve months should have lapsed post uncomplicate stable LASIK. No history or evidence of any complication.


(iv) The post LASIK corneal thickness as measured by a corneal pachymeter should not be less than 450 microns.


(v) The axial length of the eye should not be more than 25.5 mm as measured by IOL master.




Other Medical Criteria for AFCAT Flying Branch :

All other medical criteria would be evaluated by the Air Force Medical Authorities whose decision on the fitness would be final.



Candidates who have failed the Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS) / PABT in an earlier attempt or a Flight Cadet suspended from flying training at Air Force Academy will not be eligible to apply.
